Flowers is a workflow builder for accounting and finance teams. The task management flow was one of the most heavily used parts of the product,

used daily by teams managing large numbers of tasks within workflows.

But as usage grew, the legacy experience became difficult to scan, navigate, and edit efficiently, turning simple actions into slow, time-consuming work.

Learnings

The legacy task builder used a fixed modal to manage both the task list and task details. Users create ~15 tasks per step on average, so the small layout made scanning, editing, and navigating between tasks inefficient and time-consuming. Repetitive setup became click-heavy, with no shortcuts and heavy scrolling, slowing down daily workflows.

Loading every task detail in the same view also created performance issues and made Customer Support troubleshooting harder. As one of the most-used parts of the product, these usability issues became costly

at scale.

REDESIGNED EXPERIENCE

The redesign introduced keyboard shortcuts for bulk task creation and a split-view layout, making tasks easier to scan, compare, edit, and manage at scale.

A split-view layout made bulk task creation easier to scan, edit, and manage.

LEGACY EXPERIENCE

In the legacy flow, users created tasks in bulk but had to fill them one by one inside a fixed modal, making setup scroll-heavy and harder to scan across tasks.

A fixed modal made it hard to create, review, and edit many tasks at once.
